The Old Crab and the Bridge over the Mawddach to Barmouth from Arthog
Print description
I sometimes feel like an old crab. While in art we often celebrate the figure of the poet in the landscape, this is about the artist in the landscape. I created the line work in mid-June as a birthday present for my artist friend, Scarlett Rebecca. Rebecca and her partner, Jake Spicer, run the wonderful Mawddach Art Residency. Throughout the year, they organise extraordinary stays for artists to create. Once a year, they invite their artist friends to celebrate art and life. I feel honoured to be part of it.
Print details
I created this print from my original ink drawings to which I apply colour digitally. Printed on fine art paper using archival inks. I issue the formats A0, A1 & A2,A3 and A4 as limited editions of 100 where I individually sign and number each print. Please note that I have created two variations for this print. The A4 edition shows a larger size crab.
Crab Art
I love depicting the natural world around us. I live in Brighton by the sea where I often go swimming with my google and at low tide when the water is clear you can see often large brown and spider crabs. The Mawddach is a strong tidal river, we had wonderful swims where I often encounter shore crabs. This print is also a homage to ‘An Old Crab and a Young.’ A print by Edward Bawden.
