18th September – 15th October, 2023
For four weeks between September and October I am the featured artist at Chalk Gallery.
If you would like to attend the Private View event on Saturday 23rd of September just rsvp to firstname.lastname@example.org or get in touch
For the title of my show I reference the name that museums have for their rooms dedicated exclusively to art prints. Which is basically my main practice as an artist.
I put together my prints from my original monochrome ink drawings that I scan to later apply colour digitally. I print these using archival papers and archival inks and issued them in different sizes as limited edition prints.
Technicalities apart, let’s not forget what EM Forster teaches us in Howards End with ‘Only Connect’. He defines the necessary connection between the head and the heart, between thought and feelings. A connection that has been forged since prehistoric times with the depiction of scenes in the caves that brought people together in awe, fear and joy and also recording memory.
With this I imply that my work is illustrative and often follows a narrative. My prints are very colourful though my interest is not just in aesthetics, My narrative celebrates the world as the beautiful and fragile ecosystem that it is, where nature and man made landscapes are inevitably entwined.
At Chalk gallery, for my featured artist show I will exhibit not only my most recent prints I will display some of the products that this year I have designed for Glyndebourne and are currently for sale at their shop.
I will also display my latest art adventure, which is the customization with gold gouache of some of my prints, in particular you will be able to see my ‘Chinoiseriez Dragon Print Gold’ which is dazzling and fun, and watch this space as I am framing it with a bamboo style gilded frame
In addition as a last minute addition to this show I am displaying a collection of drawings from my first and recent visit to Athens. Love life, love art!
