‘Brighton and Hove Seafront Ocean Blue’.
Panoramic view of the iconic Brighton and Hove Seafront. The view looks East from the end of Western Lawns by the Hove Deep Sea Anglers Club. Notably, on a clear day, the view reaches nearly twenty miles to the East, as far as Belle Tout Lighthouse which is on the chalk cliffs within the South Downs National Park.
Panoramic format. Print size 124 x 30.5 cm approx. Signed print from a limited edition of 100. From original ink drawing to which I apply colour digitally. Printed on fine art paper using archival inks.
This comprehensive view of Brighton and Hove seafront show many landmarks and buildings found along the historic seafront. Notably you can recognise Sussex Heights, The Hilton Metropole, Sussex Square in Kempton, Roedean School, Beacon Mill in Rottingdean. Even the Blind Veterans building , and further on the hills of the Seven Sisters, within the South Downs National Park, stands Belle Tout Lighthouse.
Sussex Heights and the Peregrines Falcons
Sussex Heights is unmissable in the Brighton skyline. Designed by Richard Seifert and built between 1966 and 1968, rises to 102 meters. Known as the tallest residential building on the south coast of England.
In March 1998 Sussex Heights installed a peregrine falcon nest box. You can see them live on this webcam stream.
Print collection Ocean Blue
This print belongs to a tonal collection named ‘Ocean Blue’. Namely this tonal collection reflects on the aquamarine colours of the sea. Imagine yourself on a summer’s day walking on the Palace Pier in Brighton. Look down through the gaps of the wooden deck to see the sea glistening like jewels in the sun. Then later lounge on a deck chair and watch the English Channel in Ocean Blue.
