The River Thames in London is a window to British history. This view reflects the different historical periods that have shaped London. In view are the following constructions : the CitizenM Tower of London Hotel, 41 Tower Hill, the Tower of London with the Bell Tower, the Beauchamp Tower, the Traitors’ Gate, the Royal Armouries White Tower, the Lanthorn Tower, the Salt Tower, the Cradle Tower, the New Armouries, Tower Bridge House, 1 St Katharine’s Way, The Tower Hotel, Tower Bridge. In the distance Canary Wharf with the HSBC Building, One Canada Square, the Newfoundland Building and the The Wardian, West Tower. And on the South Bank of the River, Anchor Brewhouse Horselydown, Butler’s Wharf West and City Hall along the Thames River Bank.
This print belongs to a tonal collection that I have named ‘Pebble Beach’. The palette for this collection reflects the variation of colours and tones in the beach pebbles that can be found along the East Sussex Coast. The pebbles are flint, a hard grey rock that was deposited in the chalk cliffs; through natural erosion the flints are released from the cliffs and slowly make their way through a natural process to form the pebble beaches.
