Durslade Farmhouse. Hauser & Wirth Gallery. Somerset. August 2020.
Restored in 2012 by Hauser & Wirth with architects Laplace & Co. and benjamin + beauchamp, Durslade Farmhouse blends original 18th-century features with bold interior design by Luis Laplace. Vintage furniture and artworks by Hauser & Wirth artists sit alongside historic fittings, creating a characterful and eclectic space. Part of a group of Grade II listed farm buildings dating from around 1760, the Farmhouse was originally built by the Berkeley family, whose coat of arms remains on the building today. After years of neglect, it became the first structure on the site to be brought back to life.
In August 2020 I was invited by David Remfry and Caroline Hansberry with other guest to stay a few days. Along with the visit to the Gallery, some walks to the countryside and some good meals (and dance) I love finding time to draw.
So there I was on a lovely table in the bedroom and in the kitchen where on the visitors book I drew each one of us.
Thank you to David and Caroline for your generosity.
In August 2020 at the Gallery grounds was exhibited the mesmerizing sculpture ‘Cannot Enter Cannot Exit’ by Not Vital
