I love how history and architectural languages overlap in a cityscape. Oddly enough, I’ve come to appreciate the simplicity of the i360 base—though it’s a shame it isn’t a modern art museum or some kind of foundation. Above it, a Victorian kiosk from the West Pier stands like a grand art piece on a modern pedestal. I’ll refrain from commenting on the i360’s suggestive design.

This piece is quite formal, even though I’m trying to break away from that and embrace more gestural, expressive work. Yet, I’ve produced something serene, calm, and orderly. The focal point is an empty horizon, offering a space to pause your thoughts for a moment.

By formal, I mean I’ve adhered to the strict rules of perspective—using a single focal point that draws the eye to the horizon. The design’s continuous linework expresses the geometry of the subjects in a clean and structured way.

I created this print from my original ink drawings to which I apply colour digitally. Printed on fine art paper using archival inks. I issue the formats A0, A1 & A2,A3 and A4  as limited editions of 100 where I individually sign and number each print.

Brighton Seafront

Brighton Palace Pier, commonly known as Brighton Pier or the Palace Pier opened its gates in 1899. It was the third pier to be constructed in Brighton after the Royal Suspension Chain Pier and the West Pier and is now the only one still in operation. Every winter starlings come to roost under the deck of the pier attracting many visitors and bird lovers.
