Brighton Pebble Beach Deck Chairs Sky Blue

On the foreground, two deck chairs—striped in fresh greens and ocean whites—sit gently on Brighton’s distinctive pebble beach. Their wooden frames, sun-warmed and slightly askew, suggest recent company… perhaps a quiet couple, lulled to sleep by the rhythm of waves and the whisper of sea breeze.

They face eastward, toward the Palace Pier, that proud sentinel of the seaside. Stretched long and elegant into the glasslike water, the pier seems to hover—its reflection depicting a second world beneath the waves. The sea today is so still, so unimaginably calm, it becomes a looking glass… a portal to dream.

The colour holds the soul. A symphony of blues: sea-blue, sky-blue, and the faded, softened hues of seaside joy. A gentle amber flecks the stones, like scattered sunlight made solid. The clouds—pillowy and full—drift without urgency.

And here, amidst it all, these two simple chairs become something more: a quiet invitation. To sit. To pause. To watch. To remember. A moment suspended between tides and time.

A day out in Brighton

I love revisiting my early prints. This particular one was among my first, and I’ve since added many more details. As the city evolves, so do my artworks—now, we even have the new Shelter Hall

A Day Out in Brighton by the Sea: After arriving at the train station, stop for a refreshment while enjoying sea views from the balcony of the new Shelter Hall. Then, stroll past shops and art galleries like Atelier the Sea. Visit the Brighton Fishing Museum, have fun on the Carousel, and relax by the sea on one of Brighton’s iconic striped deck chairs. Finally, end your day on the deck of Brighton Palace Pier, commonly known as Brighton Pier. This wonderful structure opened its gates in 1899 and remains the only pier in operation.

I create this print from my original ink drawings and apply colour digitally. I print them on fine art paper using archival inks. I issue formats A0, A1, A2, A3, and A4 as limited editions of 100, and I individually sign and number each print.

Photograph of the base drawings for the art print. I draw these on A3 sheets of specialised marker paper with calligraphic brushes, fine-line ink pens, sponges, sand paper and other materials. The medium is ink ,watercolour and charcoal. I scanned these to form the main line work and patterns in the final print.
