Brighton Seafront and Palace Pier from Marine Parade Sky Blue
Print description
is a scene of exquisite tranquillity on England’s southern coast, time appears to stand still.
Before us, the Victorian railings are depicted in a radiant, almost ethereal sky blue. Their gentle curves and cast-iron flourishes evoke a bygone era, when craftsmanship met civic pride.
Beyond the railings, the Palace Pier stretches delicately into the mirror-like sea. On this day, the water is so calm, so utterly still, that it perfectly reflects the sky above—doubling the vast expanse of cloud and light. The horizon is barely a line at all.
And if one looks carefully… yes, just there… you’ll see the ghostly silhouette of Worthing Pier in the far distance. A mere whisper on the edge of sight, it reminds us how landscapes are layered—full of memory, connection, and the quiet passage of time.
The palette Alej Ez has chosen is remarkable. A symphony in blue. Not just any blue—but the blue of summer skies after rain, of sea glass, of stillness itself.
Historic Brighton And Hove
This print shows the quintessential Brighton and Hove beach huts with the background of Adelaide Crescent, one of the grandest open crescent that are so unique to Brighton . Building work started in 1830 to the design of Decimus Burton but was not finished until 1860. Together with the Kemp Town and Brunswick Town estates, the crescent is one of the foremost pre-Victorian residential developments in the Brighton area
Brighton Palace Pier
Brighton’s Palace Pier, built in 1899, has long been a sparkling symbol of seaside fun, drawing visitors from far and wide, including royalty like King George VI. As you stroll from Marine Parade, the sound of squawking seagulls and the rhythmic rush of the sea fills the air, heightening the anticipation of the pier’s vibrant amusements. The scent of fresh sea air mingles with the hum of laughter, and the sight of twinkling lights promises the timeless thrill of traditional British seaside delights.
I love revisiting my early prints. This particular one was among my first, and I’ve since added many more details. As the city evolves, so do my artworks.
