My Favourite Armchair

This is a revision of a recent print. The main subject wasn’t too keen on my colour scheme, so here’s a second try. Nothing like being pushed down an unexpected road of experimentation!
I love creating linear monochrome drawings in ink, so I thought, for this piece, let’s give the original linework centre stage while introducing a reduced palette. It makes sense to give it the look of a print, as my monochrome drawings often work just right as designs for lino cuts or etchings. I selected just two colours on vintage-coloured paper, echoing the simplicity of Japanese printmaking or early colour lithography..
Print details
To create this print, I begin by making individual drawings in ink, which I then bring together to form the final composition. I scan these original drawings and digitally add colour. The finished design exists solely in digital form and is printed using archival inks on fine art paper. I release the design as a limited-edition print, available in standard ‘A’ sizes, ranging from A0 (84.1 × 118.9 cm) to A4 (21 × 29.7 cm).
