Eastbourne Pier and Huts Antique Blue and Ochre

Print Description

View of the iconic sunny Eastbourne beach. In view are the magnificent Eastbourne Pier, The white timber weatherboard beach huts and the Martello Tower. Eastbourne Pier opened in 1870 by Lord Edward Cavendish. Interestingly the pier is built on stilts that rest in cups on the sea bed. This allows the structure to move in rough weather.

This print belongs tonal collection named ‘Antique Blue and Ochre’. This is the first colour scheme palette I developed. The colours are inspired from a small antique drawing of a palace in India from a drawing I found at the Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco. It was a decision out of instinctive preference of aesthetics that lead to a form a modern print with an strong echo from the past.

Panoramic Print. Paper size 124 x 30.5 cm approx. Signed print from a limited edition of 100. From original ink drawing with colour added digitally. Printed on art paper using archival inks.
