What it Means to Belong by alej ez We are all bound by connections — cultural, emotional, personal. When these connections shift or fade, our sense of belonging ripples outward, like circles on water.. To belong is tied to self-esteem, to feeling valued, to knowing our worth. It touches life and death, love and loss, and the cultures that shape and mirror us. Belonging is not threatened by difference, but strengthened by acceptance. It is about identity, attachment, and the spaces where we truly find — or lose — ourselves.

Welcome to alej ez art

I’m Alej, an artist and architect based in Brighton, UK. Since 2009, I’ve been creating prints that begin with hand-drawn black ink line-work. I then apply colour digitally, keeping the expressive character of the original drawing while bringing in vibrant, rich colour.

Ink is the backbone of my work; colour is the soul.

My themes are varied and evolving—coastal and countryside scenes, architecture (a lifelong passion), flora, fauna, mythological motifs, and more recently, glimpses of everyday life and people.

Feel free to browse my collection of small and large prints, explore themes and colourways, or learn about commissions and one-off originals through the menu.
