Panoramic art

Landscape art. Panoramic prints

Since 2011, I’ve been exploring panoramic art, creating prints that capture wide, immersive views of landscapes, cityscapes, and coastlines. For me, panoramas are a natural extension of my work with singular buildings and places, allowing me to document a scene in its entirety and hold it as a memory.

The word “panorama” comes from the Greek πᾶν (“all”) and ὅραμα (“sight”) — a fitting description of the wide perspectives these prints offer. Inspired by historic panoramas, from Lascaux cave paintings and Roman frescoes to Canaletto’s Venice and Seville’s Holy Week processions, I aim to continue this long tradition of recording the world around us.

My process begins with sketching concepts and idea on site and taking photographic records. I translate these into detailed ink drawings on A3 sheets, then scan and colour digitally to create limited-edition pigment prints. Each piece is individually signed and dated.

Examples from the series include Hove Brighton Promenade Pebble Beach, my first panoramic print, which can be printed up to 2.4 conveying the sweeping view along the coast of the city where I live.
